Editor Tips

FAQ:

What is the key for…? All controls are visible and configurable in the ESC menu → Options.

Why can't I see my published map? It can take a few minutes for Steam to process workshop items and updates. Be sure you accept the Steam Workshop agreement and that the published map is Public – by default it should be this way.

Please Note:

Use these props somewhat sparingly: Lasers & animals. More than 100 animals, or more than 100 laser segments total in a map (from portals or reflection) is not recommended.

• Physics issues are possible, such as random bounces where tile pieces meet. To avoid this, be careful with scaled pieces, overlapping pieces, and high speeds. Also try substituting components (floor, edge, wall) for tiles, or slightly changing the layout.

• If you're using buggy or non-intended mechanics, be aware that future patches may fix these bugs and break your map.

Options:

• Go to Options -> Editor Options to set custom snap settings for the Position, Rotation, and Scale widgets.

• Go to Options -> Map Options to set the pars of your holes as well as a map description. Here you can give yourself credit as well as recommend settings for your map.

Spawns:

• A flat surface is recommended. A spawn on a slope will cause the player to roll, without being able to shoot until they stop.

• If you want your map to support random spawns, leave a clear square of at least 4 units (2 in each direction) around the spawn.

Geometry:

• You can use Caps or CapColumns (under Edge) to cover up corners where edges cross. This will happen sometimes with Tiles on inside corners.

• There are some pieces marked as “Unscalable” or “Unscalable on Y-Axis” - this is to prevent physics issues.

Bounds:

• Bounds aren't required, but recommended as they'll prevent the player from cheating by scoring in a different hole's goal. You can use individual walls, or a cube for convenience. Bounds will be invisible in-game.
